Local Authorities

Within Local Authorities, there is a constant need to prioritize and work toward deadlines, despite difficult circumstances. Data may be gathered from multiple, disparate sources, and there may be little time to spend analyzing data that may also be of variable quality. i2’s software tools can be implemented within Local Authorities to aid investigations, in terms of storing, managing and querying data in a central database, so that findings can be visualized and evidence collated, which may then be used in a court environment.

i2’s products may be used, for example, in fraud investigations, to gather evidence against persons committing benefit fraud. Investigators can use i2 software to store, analyze and collate all the information that may be collected during an investigation, including interview transcripts, surveillance photographs and other documents; manage their workflow; and present result in a clear, coherent format, which illustrates all stages of the investigation.

Prisons

Within a prison environment, criminals continue to network, either with fellow inmates, when visited or through telephone communication. You need to be in a position to determine whether this networking is inconsequential, if it indicates that criminal activities on the outside are being run from the inside or whether it could ultimately disrupt and undermine your establishment.

By determining who interacts with whom, what their antecedents and any prison history are, and what particular activity they might be involved in, you can build up a clearer picture of what your potential problems may be and who is likely to be involved. Armed with this understanding, you can then act swiftly to prevent disruptive activities and be seen to be taking proactive steps to stamp out problems within your prison.

As with all government organizations, you also need to be able to share information and intelligence with other prison establishments and external agencies to ensure that all parties dealing with prisoners are fully informed of pertinent information about them.
