power2 Built-in
i2’s products integrate power2 built-in technology to enhance the analytical capabilities of the software.
Turning data into actionable intelligence is a common challenge for agencies and organizations, and requires several technical and logistical obstacles to be overcome. Data sources may not be easily accessible; information from multiple data sources may result in information overload, resulting in difficulty in comprehension. Imperfect data and lack of database query skills amongst users can often lead to information being misinterpreted or even overlooked. power2 addresses these issues by providing the next generation of data access and analytical capabilities. It allows information to be quickly and easily accessed by providing close integration of disparate data sources, adding meaning to the raw data so users can then make better sense of it.
power2 delivers Intelligent Search and Smart Match capabilities which allow data to be acquired and understood more easily. This technology allows data sources to be explored more efficiently, extracting maximum value from the data, and resulting in more time for analysis.
This technology from i2 shifts the effort from collection and comprehension of data to the more valuable task of analysis, saving both time and effort.
Key Benefits
power2 technology provides:
- a new way of handling data, based on what it means, rather than how it was originally recorded
- the capability for users to categorize and identify the elements of their data, as the real world objects that it represents: whether people are represented as victims, criminals, men or women, they are all ‘people’. power2 products understand how to process data about real world objects
- the ability for users to acquire more data from more sources, more conveniently
- the right data faster
- more time to perform analysis
- better searching so that you can develop better intelligence products
Key Functionality
Intelligent Search
power2 Intelligent Search lets users search across multiple data sources using a single query. Intelligent Search not only uses the exact search criteria, but also searches for variants and potential alternatives, without users having to compose additional searches.
Results are then presented in ranked format, allowing the user to focus on the most relevant results first, whilst at the same time providing access to additional relevant data that may otherwise have been overlooked. This allows the analyst to use their time analyzing the results, rather than simply searching for information.
Intelligent Searching shifts the emphasis away from the creation of complex, data-source dependent queries and back onto the information itself. No matter how much time the user spends crafting complex queries, errors of omission are a significant risk to the credibility and completeness of the intelligence. The data will never be perfect. Ever.
power2 technology has been developed to reduce the risks of imperfect data, and to facilitate the faster creation of accurate, actionable intelligence.
Smart Match
Wherever multiple sources of data exist, it is usual that data about the same object often exists in more than one of the sources. i2’s Smart Match technology can compare the data and suggest where there may be multiple occurrences of the same real world object. This process considers all pertinent information and scores the likelihood of any pair of objects matching.
The Smart Match process is more than just text or data matching. power2 technology understands what the data object actually is in the real world (such as a person, telephone, vehicle, etc.). It then uses that understanding and as much information as possible about the object to suggest probable matches. It can also deal with information not directly related to the item being looked for in order to find a match. An example of this would be its use of telephone numbers present on a person’s record, as part of the match process.
Smart Match also takes into consideration variations of the data such as alternative spellings, name synonyms and spelling mistakes or mistypes.
